Job Summary/Basic Functions

This position is responsible to the Department of Prosthodontics administrators, faculty, staff, residents and students at the LSU School of Dentistry. General responsibilities will be to perform complex clinic functions in a clinical setting, answering the phone, communicating through email, greeting all patients in a respectful manner, and providing information in accordance with the rules and regulations of the School of Dentistry.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education:  No minimum required

Number of years required to perform the job: 1

Type of experience required to perform the job: One year of experience in administrative services; OR
One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute.

Substitution: HIC 1-Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required general experience.

  • This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.

Additional Information About This Position

Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Schedules patients and coordinates follow-up appointments for Prosthodontic residents and fellows. Initiates communication between all departments, students, and patients via phone calls, e-mail or written correspondence.
  • Maintains list of referred patients and documents patient assignments.
  • Monitors chart entries in electronic health record and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Acquires all patient information including medical and financial data and enters that information on computer for the maintenance of clinical records.
  • Completes patient applications for Smart Care loans through Campus Federal.
  • Position requires communication with other departments for the purpose of entering pertinent information into departmental databases.

Appointment Type: Classified Appointment 

Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group may be filled as a Health Information Coord 1 or 2.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; work hours will be determined by the department

 Work Location: 1100 Florida Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70119

Compensation: There is a starting rate of $16.37 for the HIC2 and $15.30 for theHIC1 per hour.
Pay is dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. There is an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
