Title: CENTRAL SERVICE WORKER 1 or 2

Job Summary/Basic Functions

To provide services, as well as to supply, process, maintain, and distribute medical supplies and equipment throughout state health care facilities. Under the direct minimal supervision will report to the Director of Clinical Staff and Patient Services. Primary responsibilities include proper asepsis in Central Sterilization, Dispensary, Clinic and Student Laboratories.

  • This is a Civil Service Position.
  • No Civil Service test score required to be considered for this vacancy

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: None 

Number of years required to perform the job: 0

Type of experience required to perform the job: No experience or training is required for Central Service Worker 1.

 Central Service Worker 2 -One year of experience in housekeeping in a healthcare setting or in the sterilizing, processing, assembling, or distributing of medical supplies.

Substitution: Central Service Worker 2 only 

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required experience

Compensation: Salary offer depends upon qualifications

  • $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.

Duties and responsibilities but not limited to: 

  • Prepares instrument trays, supplies, and seal packs according to established standards
  • Check equipment in and out of the dispensary, cleans, decontaminates.
  • Provide in-service to lower-level central service workers.
  • Perform water line biological test and document results.
  • Monitors and maintains student cubicles.
  • Sterilizes instruments, treatment trays, and surgical packs, Package and delivery to all floors.
  • Clean, lubricate and sterilize all students and clinical hand pieces.
  • Pick up dirty instruments for sterilization from all floors.
