Job Summary/Basic Functions

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available at the LSU Health Sciences Center Neuroscience Center of Excellence. Our laboratory investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying aging, synaptic structural plasticity, and neurodegeneration using complementary Drosophila and mouse models.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and supportive research environment and will have the opportunity to lead innovative projects aimed at understanding fundamental biological processes with broad implications for neurological disease. Responsibilities include designing and conducting independent and collaborative research, developing new experimental approaches, analyzing data, preparing manuscripts for publication, presenting research at scientific meetings, mentoring junior laboratory members, and contributing to laboratory operations. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a passion for discovery-driven research and scientific collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: PhD or MD

Required Field of Study: Neuroscience or related field

Number of years required to perform the job: 0-2 years research experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: PhD

Preferred Discipline: Neuroscience, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field

Preferred Experience: Strong candidates will demonstrate excellent experimental skills in molecular biology and biochemistry, along with a strong enthusiasm for basic research. Experience in genetics and neuroscience is preferred.
