Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Behavioral Health Specialist/Educator will be a vital member of the Family Medicine Residency Program, providing expertise in the integration of behavioral health principles and practices within the primary care setting. The Behavioral Health Specialist/Educator will share responsibilities with the Program Director and other faculty for the design and implementation of the behavioral health curriculum, ensuring residents receive training sufficient to meet and exceed the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Program Requirements for the residency program. The Behavioral Health Specialist/Educator will focus on various domains including behavioral and community health, human behavior, psychiatry, ethics, doctor-patient communication, cultural humility, quality improvement, interdisciplinary approach, and well-being (for residents and faculty). Such training occurs during specialized didactic presentations, during rotations, one-on-one or group sessions with residents, and longitudinally while co-precepting with faculty physicians. The Behavioral Health Specialist/Educator will engage in scholarly activities within the Family Medicine Residency Program.

This position will be engaged in direct patient care at 40% effort and 60% effort will be engaged in support of the residency program to include, but not be limited to, precepting and administrative responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Master's

Required Field of Study: Mental Health Counseling, Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Ethics, or equivalent from an accredited university.

Certifications or Licenses Required: Valid license to practice in Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities (if applicable) before hire.

Number of years required to perform the job: 3

Type of experience required to perform the job: Teaching experience

Program Administrator - Anatomical Services

The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy seeks a Program Administrator for Anatomical Services. The incumbent will oversee the willed body program for LSUHSC-New Orleans, the Bureau of Anatomical Services (BAS), which accepts approximately 300-400 donors a year for use in medical, dental, nursing, allied health and post-graduate courses. The incumbent will regularly communicate with donors, potential donors and their families; ensure the prompt return of death certificates and cremated remains to donor families; provide application packets to interested individuals and answer questions; coordinate the scheduling of courses with internal departments and outside entities; provide course estimates; coordinate contracts and facility use agreements; invoice and coordinate payment with internal departments and outside entities; and supervise the BAS coordinator and morgue staff. This position requires a high level of professionalism; the ideal candidate must adhere to the highest ethical standards; detail-oriented; respectful of donors and donor families; and customer-service focused, including taking death calls and being comfortable rejecting donors if they don’t meet the standards for acceptance to the program. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least three years of professional experience; a master’s degree can substitute for two years of the required experience. Candidates with a master’s degree and/or experience in the funeral industry are preferred.
