Job Summary/Basic Functions

The LSU Cancer Center's Gulf South - NCI Oncology Research Program (NCORP) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the NCORP Director to provide comprehensive operational, administrative, and programmatic leadership. The NCORP Director will work with the Gulf South NCORP Principal Investigator to discuss general strategy and ensure that the agreed upon plans are conducted in a timely and professional manner. The Director has oversight of the implementation of the grant at all Primary Affiliates, and will work with the representative of each Primary Affiliate to ensure that daily operations and patient accrual are done within the NCI guidelines, ensure compliance with NCI grant terms including NCI Research Base requirements and support the successful conduct of NCI-sponsored clinical trials, cancer control studies, and cancer care delivery research across affiliate community oncology sites.

The Director will also be responsible for directly planning and implementing all NCORP non-treatment trials. They will work with the Clinical Trials Offices of each Primary Affiliate to discuss and plan the implementation and execution of all non-treatment trials. In addition, the Director will be responsible for maintaining program integrity, regulatory compliance, and consistent adherence to NCI expectations.

The position will lead the coordination of network operations, data quality oversight, preparation and conduction of all audits, and monitoring to ensure high‑quality research conduct and sustainable program growth. The Director will work with the PI to build network engagement by developing education, training, and communication strategies that strengthen affiliate knowledge and participation, support staff competencies, and promote a culture of research excellence across the Gulf South region.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's

Required Field of Study: Basic or Health Science, Math, Business, Public Health, Nursing, or related field

Number of years required to perform the job: 10

Type of experience required to perform the job: Program Management, Research Administration, Grant Management, or Clinical Trial Operations

Substitution: A Master’s degree may substitute for two years of professional experience provided
either the Master’s or Bachelor’s is in one of the disciplines listed above.
An RN Associate’s degree with 3 additional years’ experience may substitute
for the Bachelor’s degree.
