Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: PhD or equivalent

Required Field of Study: Physics or Engineering

Number of years required to perform the job: 3 years of postdoctoral experience

The Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy seeks a senior staff scientist with a PhD in Physics, Engineering or a related field as well as a minimum of three years postdoctoral work in a biologically related field. This individual will collaborate with Dr. Carmen Canavier on computationally intensive projects and will be expected to develop collaborations with other LSUHSC faculty that require the successful candidate’s computational expertise. These collaborative efforts are expected to result in extramural funding.

Required qualifications include proficiency in Neuron and/or Netpyne Software Packages, excellent Python programming skills, proficiency in working in the Linux Environment, and proficiency in utilizing HPC clusters and SLURM scripts. Experience with large scale neural simulations and bifurcation analysis of the genesis of oscillations is preferred but not required.

CTMS SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR 1 or 2
