Job Summary/Basic Functions

The RN Clinical Trials Coordinator 2 (RN CTC2) will coordinate, manage, and assist physicians in enrolling and monitoring patients on all drug-industry sponsored and the NCI-funded clinical trials for the LSU Cancer Center. The RN CTC2 will recruit, enroll, administer care, and provide patient follow-up visits in-person and virtually on all NCI and pharmaceutical sponsored studies associated with the Cancer Center, the Genitourinary Oncology team, Gynecologic Oncology team, and its partner institutions. The RN CTC2 will also work with the Virtual Research clinical trials program which offers specialized care to female patients which would otherwise be unattainable for most women in Louisiana.

Duties will include: attending oncology clinics in-person and virtually to collaborate with physicians to determine patient eligibility; informing and educating the patient and their families about a particular study; providing informed consent; scheduling regular appointments and follow-up as needed; providing treatment; obtaining study specific lab-work; evaluating and monitoring effects of treatment; organizing, collecting and managing data; submitting forms and reports as required; working closely with monitors from the drug companies to ensure protocols are being implemented correctly and that the necessary clinical data is being captured; processing and packaging specimens for mail-out. The RN CTC2 will work with physicians in-person and virtually at LSUHSC clinics, various satellite locations, and with our partner institutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: BSN or RN

Required Field of Study: Nursing

Certifications or Licenses Required: Possession of a valid Louisiana license required by the State of Louisiana to practice Nursing

Number of years required to perform the job: 2

Type of experience required to perform the job: clinical RN experience
