Job Summary/Basic Functions
The NSF EPSCoR-funded Center for Nanomotor Development at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The position is part of a multidisciplinary CREST Phase I program investigating molecular motor (e.g. kinesin) biology and specific to the focus of my lab - their roles in neuronal structure and function.
The fellow will lead projects involving either neuronal electrophysiology or neuronal morphology imaging to study how kinesin modulation can contribute to cortical circuit organization and plasticity. Approaches will include neural electrical recordings (whole cell or multi-electrode array), and/or fluorescence microscopy and digital reconstruction of neuronal structure.
General laboratory responsibilities include tissue processing, solution preparation, and maintenance of electrophysiology and imaging equipment. The fellow will work in collaboration with other investigators within the Center to integrate physiological and structural findings across subprojects.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: PhD or MD
Required Field of Study: Neuroscience, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
