Job Summary/Basic Functions
The LSU Cancer Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with strong quantitative training to lead and support computational and methodological development across several active projects in systems immunology, virology, and cancer biology. The Postdoctoral Fellow must be comfortable operating across big data (sequencing and imaging) to develop novel analytical pipelines rather than applying off-the-shelf tools. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with the PI, other faculty, and collaborators on alternative and exploratory projects that require deep analytical thinking, algorithmic development, and integration of biological insight with computational rigor. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Fellow will play a central role in advancing PhIP-seq analysis pipelines, and image analysis & deep learning development.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: PhD or equivalent
Required Field of Study: Biomedical/Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Computer Science, or related field OR Basic or health science, or related field
Substitution: MD can substitute for a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
• Strong proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and R
• Experience with NGS data analysis and statistical modeling
• Solid foundation in probability, statistics, and linear algebra
• Ability to reason critically about bias, artifacts, and assumptions in high-throughput data
• Comfortable working across biology, math, and computation
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
• Experience with HPC environments, GPUs, or large-scale data storage.
