Department: Microbiology Genetics Immunology

Campus Location: GENETICS

Job Summary/Basic Functions

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Rebecca Buckley in the Department of Genetics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans. The laboratory is part of the NSF EPSCoR CREST Center for Adaptive Nanomotor Design, an interdisciplinary research center that integrates molecular biophysics, structural biology, computational modeling, and quantitative imaging to understand and engineer adaptive molecular machines. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, federally funded research program investigating the biochemical and biophysical mechanisms that govern molecular motor function. Our research seeks to understand how allosteric regulation, mechanical forces, and motor coordination control intracellular transport and cytoskeletal organization in normal physiology and how disruption of these processes contributes to human disease. The position offers an outstanding opportunity for scientific independence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional development within a highly supportive research environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: PhD or MD

Required Field of Study: Biochemistry, Molecular or Cellular Biology or related field

Type of experience required to perform the job: Candidates should have a strong background in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, genetics, or a related field, with cell culture and advanced fluorescence microscopy, including live-cell imaging. Experience integrating computational approaches with experimental studies such as quantitative image analysis, molecular modeling, or statistical analysis of biological data is desirable. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, have a productive research record, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Individuals holding or near completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent degree are eligible.
