Job Summary/Basic Functions

The incumbent will be responsible for the overall administration of the Department of Cardiopulmonary Science, guiding the department toward achievement of its mission and vision. The incumbent will be responsible for the internal coordination of the program with all departments within the School of Allied Health Professions, and act as the primary representative of the program external to the LSU Health Sciences Center. The incumbent will interact with key administrators of the linkage campuses to carry out the operational needs of the program in cooperation with the advisory boards and supervise the expenditure of all funds for the department. Additionally, the department head will have the primary responsibility for maintenance of accreditation, selection and management of personnel, and leadership of continuous programmatic and faculty professional development. The incumbent will also serve as a department liaison to the students entering the program as well as leading and communicating any changes to admission requirements and the curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Doctorate

Required Field of Study: Allied health related profession

Certifications or Licenses Required: Certification and/or License in health related profession

Number of years required to perform the job: 5

Type of experience required to perform the job: 5 years as a core faculty member in an accredited academic program.

Substitution: Less than 5 years if they have administrative experience in a higher education academic program specific to respiratory therapy or cardiovascular sonography.
