Job Summary/Basic Functions

LSU Health seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for a full-time, faculty position at a rank commensurate with experience to join the Community Health Science & Policy Program (CHSP) in the School of Public Health (SPH). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the launch and development of our new Master of Public Health (MPH) program, with a concentration in CHSP on the Louisiana State University Baton Rouge campus.

Responsibilities include assisting in developing and teaching graduate-level courses in community health, health communications, health policy, behavioral health theory, health program development and evaluation, public health project management, and more. The new faculty member will be expected to contribute to the curriculum design and implementation of the MPH program and mentor and advise MPH students in their academic progress. Additional activities include participating in service activities at the departmental, college, and university levels and collaborating with public health agencies and community organizations to foster practical learning experiences for students.

Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary. Applicants must hold a doctorate degree in a public health discipline. Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education, preferably at the graduate level. Additional experience or interest in program development is highly desirable along with expertise in innovative teaching methodologies, including online and hybrid course delivery.

The SPH is located on the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) campus. This new hire will serve on the Baton Rouge LSU Campus. The CHSP is one of four programs in the SPH and has a national reputation for health and policy research, community-engaged research and practice, and promoting health equity. The CHSP and SPH are home to several centers, service, and research entities such as the Center for Evidence to Practice, the Institute for Public Health and Justice, the Louisiana Cancer Prevention and Control Programs, South Central AIDS Education and Training Center, and the Tobacco Control Initiatives to name a few. We collaborate with several organizations, including but not limited to the LSU-LCMC Cancer Center, the Comprehensive Alcohol HIV/AIDS Research Center, and the Louisiana Health Department. CHSP faculty also enjoy strong collaborative relationships with other SPH programs and our Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Allied Health, Graduate Medical Studies, the LSU School of Social Work, and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. The CHSP offers an MPH degree, an MD/MPH track, a MSW/MPH track, a DVM/MPH track, a PhD Degree, and an MD/PhD track. Program faculty also support the undergraduate (bachelor’s in science) programs in public health (BSPH).

Required Education: Doctorate

Required Field of Study: Public Health Discipline

Preferred Experience: Additional experience or interest in program development is highly desirable along with expertise in innovative teaching methodologies, including online and hybrid course delivery.
