Job Summary/Basic Functions

The LSU Health Sciences Center, Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology-Oncology in New Orleans, LA, seeks a mix of clinicians and clinician-investigators or clinician-scientists in the areas of malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant and cellular therapy, solid tumor oncology and general hematology/oncology. Academic appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor; both tenured and non-tenured/clinical tracks are available, with rank and track dependent on qualifications. These unique positions offer candidates an exciting opportunity to practice academic clinical oncology in conjunction with research appointments in the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center. Research support will be available for candidates with demonstrated success as a clinician-scientist. The new faculty recruitment is an important part of the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center’s mission to achieve National Cancer Institute (NCI) Designated Cancer Center status, and in their journey of reimagining and transforming cancer care in New Orleans regions, and the State of Louisiana. Robust transdisciplinary research opportunities and support would be available across the campuses of LSU and within the Cancer Center.

Candidates with expertise and experience in Malignant Hematology, BMT and Cellular Therapy, Breast, GI, GU Oncology, Melanoma and Soft Tissues/Sarcoma are particularly encouraged to apply. Additionally, candidates with strong interest and experience in clinical trials including investigator-initiated trials, and clinical-translational research are highly desirable. Candidates should be board-certified or eligible for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Hematology and/or Medical Oncology certification, or its equivalent at the time of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: MD or equivalent

Certifications or Licenses Required: ABIM board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) physician in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology; Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities before hire
