Job Summary/Basic Functions

The LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding academic physician for a Sports Medicine faculty position in the Department of Family Medicine in Lafayette, LA. Responsibilities include patient care and participation in the education of residents, fellows and medical students. A commitment to teaching is required in order to provide outstanding instruction to medical students and residents in various clinical venues. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track), and will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and record of academic achievement. Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: MD or equivalent

Other Education if applicable: Successful completion of a residency in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), or Pediatrics.

Required Field of Study: Completion of an accredited one-to-two-year fellowship in Sports Medicine. Board Certified in their primary specialty (e.g., Family Medicine) and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine.

Certifications or Licenses Required: Board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) in Family Medicine; Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities before start date

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience: Proficiency in point-of-care (POC) ultrasound for diagnosis and procedures. Proven track record of clinical excellence and collaboration within multi-specialty care teams.
